"I spent $6 just to prove a point, but got the whole class perfect scores on their final instead."

Student assignment to get Instagram followers M OC My daughter is a freshman in high school. As an elective she to "enterprise" class. It's part of the FBLA classes and should be an easy A.

They run the school store and make the school shirts and merch to raise money for FBLA. The teacher is an overweight ex college football player and assistant high school football coach. He's thinks he's pretty high and mighty but is always unshaven

and looks like he's been wearing the same clothes for days. Most of the assignments were easy things like if they learn to run the computer for making shirts, cash register/money handling and easy things we expected.

My daughter has had straight A's her entire life, but this guy grades assignments by the class, not the student. So if a couple of kids sc. w up, the whole class has a lower grade which sucks for the kids trying to keep high grades.

2 weeks before end of semester the teacher hadn't entered any grades since Sept! Even though the kids had no type of lessons or previously covered the subject, their final grade was to get the school FBLA Instagram 300 new followers. Pass/fail as a group grade for

all 3 periods of students that he taught the class. It was totally out of left field as they hadn't learned anything about social media in the class. And my daughter risked failing her final based off the performance of a bunch of other kids.

I looked and the school insta account has been active for 5 years and only had 300 followers. Yet they were expected to double it in two weeks time. I waited to see if he was being serious or not. It came down to deadline of when they were supposed to have the followers and they'd only gotten like 20.

So I spent $6 and bought them 500 followers just to prove a point that it was ac ip assignment and could easily be cheated. In 30 minutes they had over 800 new follows that were obviously fake accounts. They had no posts and barely even had a profile pic.

The teacher came to class and said that since they didn't have the followers he was giving them a B. He admitted that he hadn't even checked how many they'd gotten. He was just automatically giving them a B.

The kids got mad and showed him that they'd gotten it so high. The teacher didn't question it and was totally caught off guard. He was so happy, he gave them 110% on all three class periods final grades.

(₂ ztheo 15 hr. ago Thats a terrible teacher and they shouldn't ever be allowed to give grades again Vote Reply Share vaporworks OP. 15 hr. ago Luckily she won't have him again. He made it obvious that he was a "football player" and he was he didn't care about teaching the class. Vote Reply Share

SirWigglesTheLesser - 14 hr. ago Does the principal know he grades by the class? That's pretty , and it can affect other kids getting into college. Idk if how they grade is regulated, but that's up. Vote Reply Share

dwells2301 - 15 hr. ago My history teachers were also football coaches. One would explain wars by drawing out battle plans like a football play. So I know how the wers were fought, but not why they were fought. ✩ Vote Reply Share

_derosnec_ 14 hr. ago This class and teacher sounds so awful I would actually be that annoying mom at the PTA meeting complaining about how exploitative it is... I love what you did though, that's brilliant Reply Share Vote

Tdn87 14 hr. ago · edited 11 hr. ago Dude sounds like the 'teacher' I had for an elective class(Current Events) my last year of HS. Never did more than the bare minimum. Spent more time reading his newspaper and email than teaching class. All we had for class work was summarize a few stories from the news that day. He never read them, but we got a check mark for the day for doing it. I remember one guy in class never did it and failed. Always weirded me out, it was a stupid easy class.

Later learned that he only took the class to get a year of teaching on his record, and left to do something else entirely. *Appreciate the upvotes. Vote Reply Share

idahononono 14 hr. ago That sucks so bad; my old football coach taught history, and he was one of the best teachers I had in HS. He called out all the slackers who thought it was an easy A for football, and he made them work their as off to actually get A's. Coach was a real b. ss. Vote Reply Share

Lylac_Krazy 14 hr. ago Now as an "Enterprising" student, charge all those kids a few bucks each for getting them an "A". Gotta put those skills in action! Vote Reply Share

    (c. appleblossom1962 - 15 hr. ago My sixth grade teacher had just gotten out of the military. I spent more of my sixth grade year, standing at attention behind my chair because the class clown goofed up. Me I was a good shoe shoes and I can't remember anything I did to disrupt the class or be a smart Alec however, I was still punished every day several hours a day. That school year was totally worthless. Vote Reply Share

trainbrain27 - 13 hr. ago You have to talk *politely* to the administration. He might be tenured and untouchable, but you won't find out until you try. If that doesn't work, you can call the news and use your social media savvy to make sure he doesn't do this to hundreds of other children. Vote Reply Share

cbelt3 12 hr. ago Well that's funny.. Our 8th grade Geometry class was taught by the varsity football coach... we think he was voluntold to do it. A few of us math geeks helped him and the class went okay. Vote Reply Share
